'Zebra Plant'

Alocasia zebrina

Native to the Phillipines, the zebrina has long been one of the most popular plants that we keep in stock. The elegant striped stems and narrow, pointed green leaves make this an excellent understated addition to any home.

The zebrina was first described by British horticulturalist John Veitch in 1862. The Veitch family were not only hugely important horticulturalists, but also Devon natives, with one of their nurseries originally being based a stone's throw from our Exeter shop!

Why Hutch selects me

One of the first plants we picked up in our personal collection many years ago... and still one of our favourites!

How to look after me

Watering: When the soil has dried; approximately once a week - be careful not to overwater as this can lead to rotten roots; mist occasionally

Light: Bright, indirect

Why I'm unique

We work hard to provide a clear photograph and description of your chosen plant. However, all plants are unique and, whilst the pot size remains the same, there is always variation in size and shape from one plant to the next.
